F ....Fee Fie Foe Fum and don't forget Fam

F@insect

Fungus-growing termites are insects which build mounds. On our trip to Jabiru, the Arnhem Hwy took us through the 'Cathedral of the North' Termite Mounds.

This particular phenomenon dwarfed David, who is 185.5cm tall.

F@country
Well, a 'flat' on a country road is never great. Luckily, we spied this huge 'flat' parked on the side of the road at Adelaide River. I was mesmerised by the load of feed, the condition of the 'flat' and the ease with which the driver changed it.

and then

F@shop

This is a famous film 'shop' in Cremorne, 'The Orpheum'. I took this last week when we went to see 'Blue Jasmine', which I really enjoyed. The theatre is the largest of six. However, it is the only one with a fabulous organ, which rises like a phoenix ..... from the floorboards every Sunday. The cinema opened in 1935 and has an interesting history.

F@future project
One of my future projects is to complete this largely floral quilt designed by Lyn Alchin. It would be a fib if I said I completed this block recently. Lyn drafted and adapted the design from a vintage 'cheater' fabric.
There is a very particular sequence in the block's construction. I think I will have to return for a refresher. Lyn is a wonderfully patient teacher.

I'm looking forward to seeing all the other Scatterers FINDs tomorrow morning.

  3. Re The Flat. ... and I bet there was some fairly colourful language flying around when the driver discovered it.
